Québec City – Today Alithya, a Québec-based national and international IT consulting services company, announced it has concluded a long-term strategic partnership with TELUS. In order to better serve their clients in their IT transformation and optimization projects, the two companies are joining forces and expanding their IT and communication services offering.
TELUS has acquired a 20 per cent stake in Alithya, becoming a minority shareholder in the Québec company. The partnership signifies a commitment by TELUS to IT consulting services and will further advance the growth plan Alithya has been pursuing since 2011, focusing on expansion outside Québec. The move puts Alithya in a position to tap into new markets, backed by an established IT and telecommunications leader, while allowing it to maintain the objectivity of a consulting services firm.
“We are proud to partner with a leading Canadian company such as TELUS, and excited to be able to expand our service offering for our business clients,” said Alithya President and CEO Paul Raymond. “This agreement is the natural next step in the close business relationship we have maintained for many years, and we are proud to be able to pool our expertise for the benefit of our clients. While maintaining our head office in Québec City, this partnership will allow us to accelerate our Canada-wide development plan.”
As a result of this partnership, the two companies will consolidate their expertise, with 94 employees from TELUS Professional Services joining some 500 Alithya employees over the coming weeks. With the move, Alithya will become the largest IT company headquartered in Québec City.
“This partnership will address the business community’s growing demand for managed infrastructure solutions centred on intelligent data centres and cloud-based technologies. This investment is part of a series of partnerships TELUS has developed over the past three years to enhance our IT offer and better support our customers in achieving their technology transformation objectives,” said Benoit Simard, Vice-president, Business Markets at TELUS.
Some years ago Alithya shifted its focus to continuously improving the support it provides clients in their IT transformation and optimization projects. This partnership aligns fully with that growth objective.
