Your role, your impact
As a public relations manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive public relations (PR) strategies to enhance the organization's public image, manage media relations, and effectively position executives as thought leaders. This role is key in maintaining the organization's reputation and stakeholder trust.
Your day-to-day

Lead the development and implementation of strategic PR campaigns and initiatives, including proactive media relations efforts;

Work closely with the marketing team to ensure an organic, company-wide PR calendar;

Interact with clients as needed to secure press release approvals;

Develop compelling content, including press releases, media statements, executive speeches, and presentations, ensuring consistent messaging and brand voice;

Ensure press releases are approved internally by all stakeholders and optimized with relevant keywords;

Own the press release distribution process, including maintaining the Cision relationship (contract management, posting of press releases to the wire service, emails to media contacts), managing the translation process for all press releases; confirming all releases are posted to the website, and creating internal employee communications for appropriate press releases;

Manage situations requiring quick turnaround times with legal and human capital teams to quickly create and control messages;

Work with human capital and legal teams as needed on merger and acquisition activities;

Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, industry influencers, and stakeholders;

Serve as the company spokesperson for media inquiries;

Develop and execute executive persona strategies, including identifying and securing high-profile speaking engagements and creating thought leadership content (blog series, social posts);

Maintain a current calendar of editorial opportunities, including annual lists and directories, speaking engagements, and award nominations;

Work with management and other marketing team members to strategically select and manage submissions to showcase company, executive and client achievements;

Prepare executives for media interviews, speaking engagements, and public appearances.
Keys to your success
-
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or public relations;
-
7 to 10 years of corporate public relations/media relations experience with a Quebec company;

Extensive experience in communication strategy management and media relations;
-
Excellent writing and editing skills in both French and English;
-
Proficiency in delivering oral presentations intended for public audiences.

Please note that due to the nature of the responsibilities of the position, a proficient level of English is required, in particular to communicate on a daily basis with employees and managers outside of Quebec.
